Chocolate ice cream with orange

I realize that I'm doing a lot more ice cream than cookies at the moment, but it is the season, and besides, I want to get some use out of the new ice cream machine.

This one is a chocolate ice cream, flavored with orange. It's never really been a favorite of mine, I made this by request from a friend at work, but I have to say, it does taste REALLY nice.

As you can see from previous posts, I've mostly made berry or fruit flavored ice cream until now. This is completely different, the texture is so much smoother and the taste so much richer.

Chocolate ice cream, flavored with orange

Ingredients
3 dl milk
2 dl whipping cream
1 dl sugar
5 egg yolks
130g dark chocolate
1/2 a vanilla pod
2 tbsp honey
1 orange

Ingredients

Cut through the vanilla pod and take out the seeds. Peel the outer skin of the orange with something like a potato peeler (you just want the orange part, not the white). Place the vanilla-seeds, vanilla-pod, orange peel, honey, milk and cream into a pot and bring it to the boil while stirring. Take it of the plate as soon as it starts to boil and let it infuse for about 20 minutes.

Break the chocolate into small(ish) pieces and place in a bowl.

Strain the mixture to remove the vanilla pod and orange peel from the mix. Whisk the egg yolks and sugar until it goes pale, then pour the milk/cream over it while whisking. Pour the mixture back into the pot and heat again, while stirring constantly, until the foam on to disappears and it starts to thicken. Take the custard of the heat, pour it over the chocolate and whisk vigorously until the chocolate has melted and you're lest with a nice velvety mixture.

Squeeze the juice from the orange and add it to the mix, whisk until fully incorporated.

Allow to cool in the fridge and then churn in the ice cream machine.

Bring to the boil then infuse
Just eggs and sugar

Added infused cream and milk
